Exploring and describing the shape of objects helps children to learn mathematics.  Children learn to name, describe, and organise shapes by noticing their features.

Encourage children to notice the distinguishing features of 2D shapes and 3D objects, and how the number of sides or angles helps them to name, describe, and organise shapes to create patterns, structures and artwork.
