Shopping

Episode #14:  Explore how children can learn maths through shopping.

Shopping involves lots of mathematics and opportunities for children’s learning. There are opportunities in the supermarket for comparing and matching shapes, and to measure and compare the weight of fruit and vegetables. Children can look for items that cost more that $4.00 or packets that weigh 1kg. They can predict and check the number of varieties of apples on the shelves, look for the largest item on the shelves or describe the shape of packets and containers on the shelves.
