In the Garden

Episode #17:  Explore how children can learn maths in the garden .

Playing or working in the garden or back yard has many opportunities for using and learning mathematics. There are opportunities to measure and compare the heights of trees or plants, or describing the shape of windows. Children can predict and check the number of footsteps between one object and another, or for how long a bird will sit on a fence. Children can describe the location of toys or the sequence of steps in playing a game.
